"I can't even express how much I love this book! I didn't want this story to end!"--Reese Witherspoon

"Painfully beautiful."--The New York Times Book Review

"Perfect for fans of Barbara Kingsolver."--Bustle

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand. Then the time comes when she yearns to be touched and loved. When two young men from town become intrigued by her wild beauty, Kya opens herself to a new life--until the unthinkable happens.

Perfect for fans of Barbara Kingsolver and Karen Russell, Where the Crawdads Sing is at once an exquisite ode to the natural world, a heartbreaking coming-of-age story, and a surprising tale of possible murder. Owens reminds us that we are forever shaped by the children we once were, and that we are all subject to the beautiful and violent secrets that nature keeps.

Great book. It’s a story of loneliness, a story of discovery. But a better story of love found and lost and finally captured in warmth. Oh yea, there’s a great mystery and investigation with clues to the very end. Loved it.

A deeply moving tale of a young girl finding her own way. The detail brings you into each page, you feel the story as if your living along side the characters. When the darkness leaps into the corners of the room or the tide washing up onto your feet buried in the sand, witnessing her life unfold. Has to be one of the best books I’ve read.

I read 30-40 novels each year and this novel by Delia Owens is the best that I have read in years. I kept reading because I had to finish it, but I did not want it to end. All her characters are so real that they come to life and you almost feel that that you are reading nonfiction. OUTSTANDING!!!!!

It would take a writer as talented as this author to express how I feel about this novel. I rarely write reviews of the many stories I read, as I’m always anxious to start a new one. However, this novel deserves a few words. This beautifully written novel has everything one could want from reading a book: a love story, a crime drama, family & history, coming of age life lessons and inspiration. This story has challenged me to always consider life’s blessings, which I take for granted as the norm. I couldn’t put this book down and almost hated to see it end.
